Many a times we as students forget that we have rights too, why is that? Is it because we're so used to obeying many authority figures a day? Is it because we ourselves feel too young to be absolutely sure of all of our rights? Either way, after reading up on two supreme court cases; Tinker v. Des Moines and Hazelwood v. Kuhlmeier, one thing is for sure-no one actually knows!
Tinker v. Des Moines outcome says, we have the right to express ourselves freely anyway we'd like. Verbally. Visually. Spiritually.
Hazelwood v. Kuhlmeier outcome says, the administration has the right to censor any school sponsored expression.
So, who does one believe? What does one follow? Well, I say The Constitution. Stand by and protect your rights LEGALLY. =)
